Les Portes du Soleil is a large region of 14 interconnected resorts between Lake Geneva in Switzerland and Mont Blanc in France. The region covers 14 valleys and about 400 square miles, offering 650 km of marked runs and about 211 lifts in total. You can buy one ski pass which is "hands free" to use all the lifts in the Portes du Soleil region or just buy local resort passes. Plan to carry a passport if you will be crossing the French/Swiss border.

Intermediate and advanced skiers may wish to explore the Portes du Soleil region.
Experts will find a visit to the ‘Swiss Wall’ particularly exciting; it claims to be the steepest marked run in Europe. Fans of Ski Sunday may wish to try their luck on the World Cup run at Avoriaz. Snowboarders are not forgotten and the area boasts several purpose made ‘snowboard parks’, half-pipes and ’boarder cross’ courses exclusively reserved for boarders.
Cross-country skiers will find plenty of marked trails; some at low levels
